Introduction

Having determined the sequence that work is to be tackle in, some operations require a detailed timetable showing at what time or date jobs should start and when they should end – this is scheduling. Schedules are familiar statements of volume and timing in many consumer environments. Schedules of work are use in operations where some planning is required to ensure that customer demands are meet. Other operations, such as rapid-response service operations where customers arrive in an unplanned way, cannot schedule the operation in a short-term sense. They can only respond at the time demand is place upon them. This training program is aim at improving the scheduling skills of the participants.

Goal Statement of the Training Programme

Optimum utilization of the machines or the employees working at the shop floor is always a challenge. The goal statement of the training is to improve utilization of these two components of the production at the participants’ workplace.

The programme is helpful for the personnel engaged in the operations of the services. Whatever the background of the participants, they are expect to have good analytical skills and should not be jade with the numerical examples.

ü Participants to create a case study of their shop-floor (subject to the availability of the time at hand)

Mr Deepak Jakate was Ex Head Business Planning and Strategy, Reliance Logistics, Mumbai, India. He is an Engineer – MBA, B. Tech. – IT BHU (Metallurgical Engineering), PGDM - IIM Bangalore (Operations and Finance) with over 32 years of experience in industry, academics & consulting.

Mr Deepak’s Industry experience has been in the areas of Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Business Process Re-engineering, Projects and Strategic Palming. He has worked in well-known companies and business groups such as Asian Paints, Tatas & Reliance.

Mr Deepak was a full-time core faculty at S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research in Mumbai as Associate Professor (Manufacturing & Operations). He is currently a guest / visiting faculty at several reputed management institutes both in India & abroad.

Mr Deepak has provided consultancy & corporate training services to reputed multinational & Indian companies such as Coca Cola (I) Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra etc.
